Kampu Ferry in service
June 16, 1970: Kampu Ferry launched services between Shimonoseki and Busan with the first ferry that sailed from Pier Hosoe in Shimonoseki. This was the beginning of international ferry services in Japan. The first-class fare was 8,640 yen, and the second-class fare 5,040 yen. It became a major route of exchange and distribution between Japan and South Korea.
